Hip Cross overs
For the Hip Cross Over, sit flat on the ground with your legs straight in front of you. Next, take your right leg and cross it over the other leg so that the right ankle is placed next to the left knee as seen in the picture. To preform the stretch, twist your torso toward the bent leg and place your elbow behind the knee. Use force between the elbow and knee to twist your body further around and get a deeper stretch. Hold this position for the elapsed time and repeat with the other side.
This stretch focuses on the muscles of the gluteal region and the torso. It is important in hip and back flexibility and assists in injury prevention of these regions.
